I have been meaning to write ever since I wrote a lovely post about a week ago and then accidentally wiped it- I was so disheartened & have since just not been able to muster the motivation to “have another go” – blogging 1, Ali 0
It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks TBH. I’ve a lot going on at work & soon I’m heading off on an amazing overseas adventure composed of the Trifecta: London, Paris, New York!
Ok, please don’t quit on me here – I am absolutely not complaining- quite the opposite- I feel so incredibly lucky to be going on such am amazing trip that I think I still can’t believe it’s true.
I’m hoping to blog on the go so please so check in with me 🙂
Anyone else got a bucket list trip they’re planning or going on soon? I’d love to hear about it.
I love lists.
There’s something about a crisp sheet of paper and a freshly sharpened pencil that promises a fresh start- a chance to begin again and get things done! A tick or a crisp line struck through a task can be so rewarding.
But lists can be many things; a great way to reflect, dream or be thankful or just as a snapshot of a specific time in your life.
Here’s a list of what I’m up to this July!
Reading… The Road – Cormac mcCarthy & Lonely Planet New York City Guide!
Playing… Furr – Blitzen Trapper
Trying… to get back into studying some French
Cooking… simple and comforting winter dishes like these
Eating… Meredith Dairy goat’s cheese seriously incredible (eat well!)
Drinking… hot cups of English breakfast tea
Pinning… white bricks
Loving… that in 14 days I’m leaving on an overseas adventure (travel often!)
Not loving … how cold it is!
Enjoying… planning for my upcoming trip (more on this later!)
Thinking… about sleep
Smelling… my incredible Voluspa Baltic Amber candle
Thankful For…family, friends, how lucky I am to have the means & freedom to travel
Considering… my options
Finishing… an incredibly delicious jar of cherry jam
Eat Well, Travel Often xo
To eat well & travel often!
in 2013 I feel I’ve finally settled on a mantra I could definitely live by. It honours so much of what is wonderful about being alive.
To borrow from another famous quote (often attributed to Mark Twain) – I want to set out on this journey and live by these words:
“…break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile….throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Let’s jump in together! Are you in?!
